I have always loved Chinese food, is it obvious from how much I've been cooking it? As I got older I started to appreciate the actual flavors of the different types of foods. Unfortunately, I can't afford to go get Chinese as much as I would like to, this is the main reason that I started to learn how to cook different Chinese foods at home.

I have always loved Sesame Chicken, but it was my little sister that specifically asked if we could make this for our next Chinese meal. I agreed and she actually helped me fry the meat! She is getting very good in the kitchen, we just have to KEEP her in the kitchen once she starts cooking!

Everyone in the house loved the Sesame chicken, this is including my mom! My mom has never particularly cared for Sesame Chicken but she actually loved this. I tripled the recipe in hopes that there would be left overs, and ended up freezing about 1/4 of the chicken that we had made for dinner, along with vegetable lo mien that we made to go with the dinner. I will let you know how they both taste when they come out!

----------------------------------------------------------

Crispy Sesame Chicken:

Sesame Chick Sauce: 1/4 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 TBS Corn starch 1/3 cup water 3/4 TSP Sesame oli 1 TBS Sesame Seeds Tempura Batter: 1/2 cup cornstarch 1/2 cup flour 2 egg whites 1/2 cup cold water oil for frying Chicken: 1lb chicken thighs/boneless skinless breasts cut into chunks 1/2 TSP Sesame Oil 1/3 TSP crushed red pepper 1TBS minced garlic vegetable oil for deep frying

DIRECTIONS:

To make the sauce mix all of the ingredients together.

To prepare the batter, add the ingredients together until combined.

Add chicken pieces to the batter and coat while heating 3 inches of oil to 350 degrees.

Add in a few pieces of chicken to the oil once the oil is hot. Make sure that the pieces down touch, they will stick together.

Fry until golden brown.

In a large wok, or skillet, add the sesame oil to the frying pan.

Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for 30 seconds, or until you smell the garlic.

Add in the sauce and the chicken, stir to coat quickly. Cook them together for about 2-5 minutes so that the flavor sets in.

Serve immediately (with extra sesame seeds if desired).

PAIRS WELL WITH

Vegetable lo mein, chicken lo mein, chow mein, so many others!
